1 of my uncles from my father’s side (they have a lot of offsprings ahhh.. they are virile) has a very cute son. This son has huge round eyes and smooth skin from his mother. His mother’s really cute with strong facial bones.
At Cheng Beng, this kid in primary school (barely Standard 4 I think) had nearly tripped over the plastic bag and dead branches on the ground in uh.. 1 of our ancestors grave. He swore, “Fuck!”
I turned and looked at him with shock. “Ha?! So small already say foul words?”
“So? It’s written in our school wall!” He shrugged non-chalantly.
Some of the elders heard him and scolded him lightly. He kept quiet after that.
Later, when we were burning fake HV mono-logo like LV bags and Hell money, 1 of the piece of money with fire flew up and landed on his back! He screamed and flapped his hands at his back, ducked to the other side.
The elders who saw that laughed at him, “Ha! You see, he’s scolding you for your bad mouth!”
I remember the public toilets I had gone to as a kid (kindergarten, primary school). Foul words. Pictures of the body part I had yet to learn in Biology Form 2 1st Chapter (the syllabus then). Scribbles of phone numbers, names and what they would do to me if I call. Crude. Yuck. Treating others as sex objects. I felt there were hatred and anger at others coming from the doors and walls.
Nowadays, youngsters are exposed to the ‘world’ earlier than before. Tuition used to be for university students. Then secondary school students take buses to town to take up tips from tuition centers. Now, there’s tuition for pre-kindergarten students!
Granted, a lot of the kids now are street smart than not. Learning which is ethical, taking the right action and how to decide are among the things that they observe from their environment – parents, teachers, friends, the media, government policies and flamboyant proactive politicians.
Like Wingz (funny guy, his mug is funnier) blogged in I Appreciate Comment Lidis, you should know what you are looking at/doing and whether it is alright. If you have a sound mind or over 6 years old. Ever heard of 5 years old kid killing his friend?
What about youngsters who really don’t know better or naive – those who are exposed to the bitterness before they know it’s right or wrong? Or those who don’t take their own responsibilities yet blame others and then harm others that are innocent like the South Korean-American guy who shot 30+ fellow students? Should the parents and teachers take responsibilities in educating them and their actions? Should it solely depends on yourself?

We all say
