Bao me

While passing brochures to the public, an old man came over and asked about the products. I passed him one. He asked, “This cannot be used on men’s skin?” He touched his face.

I chuckled, “Cannot.”

“It’s very hard to find skincare for men.”

I gestured the mall, “There are some brands for men inside.”

He shook his head. “No money also no need to buy.”

Somehow the topic was changed to, “Do you want to know guy?”

“Ha?”

“Do you want me to intro guys to you?”

What was he? A pimp? Or match-maker?

“You want to intro guys to me?”

“Yeah.. a girl like you, meet guys very easy, date them and get them to bao you lar.”

*rolled eyes internally*

“So easy meh?” I threw my right hand out.

“I intro for you want or not? Then you intro woman to me.”

Yuck, I’d never ever intro anyone to him.

“A doctor.. you want?”

“Old ar? Haha.”

“50.”

“Wah! No thanks!”

Seriously, people just say it, “Aiyo, you are so young and pretty *clear throat*, just get a guy to bao you la. Then you don’t have to work.”

*SNORT*

You think it’s easy to get a guy to fork out money to bao anyone? Everyone needs money these days. Who has more than enough? I can’t even get lots of $ now, how can I expect someone to give me $?!

“Independent is the best.”

“Noo… dependent and independent lar.”

1 of my ex-colleague had asked me, “Why don’t you want to find a guy who will take care of you?”

I was insulted. “WHAT do you mean by taking care of me?! I can’t take care of myself?! You mean take care of me in career, love, what?”

He was silent for awhile then he replied in a calm voice, “Just someone to take care of you, you know, when you want to buy extra stuff.. support you at work.”

“Ha?!”

I don’t even have a boyfriend, so getting a Sugar Daddy is out of the question. Besides, I don’t like to owe people things. People who bao others – Sugar Daddies and Mummies – expect something in return – sex, obedience, thrill, etc.

Thank God I’m not the only one without boyfriend/girlfriend in my gang. *sigh with relief*

Oh, what the heck?! I’ll live my life the way I want. With or without boyfriend/husband. :p

Domestic Violence Presentation – feat Carolyn Thomas

Got an email from a fren with just a MS PPT (Power Point) presentation file. I’ll upload it later. Found it here:

December 2003. Her boyfriend, Terrence Kelly, pulled a revolver, killing Thomas’ mother and shooting her in the head, destroying most of her face. She didn’t die.

View the galleries to see her right after the shooting. Gruelsome.

She’s so brave to go on living instead of committing suicide or killing her boyfriend. Girl power!

Standing 10-10 for cosmetic & skin care promotion

Position: Temp promoter
Field: Sales, retail, beauty & skincare
Industry: Beauty, skincare
Location: shoppping mall

*Warning! Long post.*

The company decided to give many free services – 4 of them actually but on the decal (a picture, design, or label made to be transferred (as to glass) from specially prepared paper), only 3 free services were listed.

“Why is the 4th service not listed?” I asked the senior part timer (SPT) who was given the honour of training me.

“There’s not enough space on the paper,” she explained.

Actually I suspected that the last service was just an add-on for extra pull. If not, there was unorganized planning on the company’s VM (Visual Merchandize) or Marketing department. Also, the 4th free service was available anytime – even without the promotion.

They were having a stressful time. With 2 days left, they still hadn’t reached 70% of the target. I joined them then. I heard the previous days were really quiet.

Zoom in on anyone interested

So now they had to be really aggressive and push more products to the customers. I had seen some passerbys interested in testing the products and once the promoters came over with “We’re having promotion now. When you buy (blah blah)..” then they would gesture a wave and reply, “We’ll see first.” Some of them would smile and then walk off, never to return.

You could say these people never had the real interest in buying anyway, so it was good riddance. Or they were interested, just put off by over-zealous (scary!) promoters.

Some companies practice giving space to the customers for them to browse the products at their own leisure while the staffs are adviced to stay in the background like Maybelline, Stila and Clinique’s kiosk. When the customers appear to be enquiring, looking up for assistance, then only the staffs come forward to offer information or help.

Obviously, those customers who prefer staffs to wait on them hand and foot would find the service appalling. “What, I want to buy only you serve me?”
