An online friend tipped me on Tues, “SAP has career thing at KLCC. 2morrow last day.”
Everyone in the IT field knows SAP is huge. I know it’s product is in ERP but I have never seen it in action. Maybe I had even used it but I didn’t know? That’s possible when there are soooooo many applications for so many tasks and even if you and the other department access the same data in the same database, you may extract the data from another application.
So on Wed, I went over there after the rain stopped. Thank the clouds and atoms for raining because KL’s getting hazy again! It didn’t help that some of my neighbours still think that burning rubbish or dead leaves is still the thing to demolish rubbish. Ugh!
I saw the sign “Career Level 4″ but when I reached that floor, it was practically empty. Only 2 guys were there hanging out separately. Lots of chairs.
So I got down and on 3rd floor, 3 people got in with SAP tags! I glanced out and saw lots of white and light blue balloons. So that was where it was being held.
During registration, the Crystal Edge (event company) staff would ask for your name card (so that they can spam contact you and add your info into their database for future events/marketing). I only wrote my name on the form. Not sure if they pass your name card back to SAP.. Ha, did you think SAP would get your card?! If you want SAP to contact you in the future, put your card inside the exhibition - specifically with the company/dept that you want to be contacted. I know this. I had worked for such event company before, albeit briefly.
The girl asked, “Your company?”
“No company.”
Haha.
There was a talk going on but I was late and the young guy said, “Do you want to enter? Still have a bit left.”
“Uh.. nevermind then.”
Inside the exhibition hall, which was another hall from the talk, was brightly lighted. Almost like a high class hotel. That’s the thing about KL Convention Center (KLCC for short) - very high class. And $$$ to hold exhibitions there! Imagine how much $ SAP plunked in for this event? *rub hands together*
I heard SAP grads (those who have SAP certs) get at least RM3K and if you are experienced, your salary is in USD! O_O
“Why didn’t college teach us SAP?” I asked another IT friend.
“SAP is a software. They won’t teach one.”
I felt cheated by my college! Haha.
There were spaces for you to walk and mingle with the companies, unlike PC Fair. Most of the people there were either employees who work with SAP, SAP clients, distributors - people from the industry. All rich and smart people, I assume :) As I came in on the last date and in the late afternoon, the mood was light and some people even prepared to pack home.
At the back of the hall, there were 2 covered make-shift rooms for interviews. In front of that were 2 tables of English pizza (if I remember correctly) and chocolate uh-something as well as tea/coffee. The pizza was very small, smaller than my center palm and hard. The chocolate dessert was soft and filled with chocolate mousse. Nice :9

sap is a very wide scope. even different departments in the same company have been known to use totally different applications.
