Child kidnapping, rape, murder: What’s next?

Nurin was only the latest publicized child kidnapping, rape and murder. Now there’s a debate going on that Musa and Shahrizat want the parents to be charged for neglecting Nurin.

How about focusing on the real solution?!

Find the real criminal

Instead of pointing finger at the parents and punishing them, find the source of the problem.

Sure, parents should not let their children wander off alone but how practical is that? Parents need to work, put food on the table, get money for books, sports equipments and uniforms for their children. Some kids go for tuition with friends, travelling with schools, play with friends, go to pasar malam, shopping, etc.

Nurin’s uncle, Jasni Abdul Jalil, who also updates http://nurinjazlin.blogspot.com, urged the authorities to create “safe, open spaces for children living in flats, for example fencing up each block of flats with their designated playgrounds and open spaces inside”. ¹

What about kids without parents? Would the NGO be blamed then for not ensuring that the orphanage or handicapped kids do not get kidnapped, raped and killed?

There has to be selective action for some parents who do neglect and abuse their children. These parents are the ones who deserved to be taken action against.
