The birthday for TBone & Sam was delayed almost 2 weeks as TBone went back to his hometown to vote. Jim had suggested, “Chili’s! Long time didn’t eat that.” Chai had suggested with fevour, twice - once for someone’s previous birthday CNY & again, this time - “SS2 Korean food.” Personally, I’m not into Korean food after eating at Mid Valley (top floor, old wing) with Niki. Expensive, not tasty.
Since Sam’s reply was, “Anything lah!”
“Then we go eat mamak lah!”
“OK ah!”
For 1 of her previous birthday, her bf took her to mamak to eat & he watched the English Premier League. The best of bf? Not from the way he celebrated for her birthday. But relationship is not only about celebrating special dates…
TBone said there were other nice Korean food places, 1 in front of his home too. So I told everyone the location, time & place. Chai said loudly, “Ha?! Choose so far! If not nice, then we’ll hit him!”
“What time u’ll reach?” I asked her.
“Mm.. 5sth. Want to buy cake?”
“Mmmm ok!”
“Um.. you think ok ah?”
“Why? Oh, I think.. they are quite… open minded, so… they wouldn’t mind,” I said slowly, unsure. For someone as flirty as Sam, she’s very traditional in some ways, like insisting men pay for dates, the husband & bf yiong wife & gf.
Later, Jim called me, “How are you going?”
I thought for a sec. Blank. “Ya oh! I didn’t even think how I’d go! Haha!”
“I come fetch you lah,” he offered.
“Ah ok ok! Thank you!”
Turned out we were the earliest. Rounded the area to search for cake shop. Found 2 only - Bread Story (or the other Bread Talk?) and Orange Zone. The cakes in Orange Zone looked SUPER familiar! I asked 1 of the girls there, “Do you have other outlets?”
She pointed North, East & West, “All also got.”
Huh? Guess she didn’t understand my question :)
As we Jim was paying at the cake shop, TBone called us, “Eh you are there already?”"Yeah, we’re inside already (not).”
“Ok, I’m coming up now..”
“OK, see you there.”
As we were getting into the lift, he called again, “Eh I don’t see you?”
“Got ah, we’re inside at the back ah.” I hung up on him.
There was a printed sign on paper at the lift:
Maximum 7 people
or there will be problem
Below this was sloppy handwritten:
What problem?
We both laughed. What problem? Lift cannot move or get faulty lah!
Inside the lift, Jim asked, “So how would you stand in lift if it suddenly drop?”
I remembered M’s recent experience with office lift that dropped a bit after maintenance.
“I would probably squat down or hands bracing the wall, 1 leg up to brace against the wall.”

“That’s not safe at all! Your balance is one sided,” he said. “Have to hold on to the handle.”
“Of course hold handle lah! If there’s no handle?”
“Then stick to the wall.”
Mmm.. if the lift was packed, better stand next to someone who doesn’t have BO & drop dead gorgeous. Wait, not drop dead. Just gorgeous will do. Haha.
Once the lift was opened, I saw TBone holding his handphone to his ear, trying to call me again probably. We had 6 people.. so we got to sit at the table next to the glass window with those drop down leg area :D
Eh?! It was the same place I had been to for Eddy’s farewell but it was another branch in Taipan. Didn’t eat there though. So I had no idea if the food were nice.

The culinaries are simple. So many outlets already, they must be making big $$ :)
Never used metal chopstick before, felt heavier than wood and plastic chopsticks.
Then the soup and sauces arrived. “The rice drink is very good for health, cleanse your toxic & heat,” according to Sam. “Drink more, drink more.” Yam sheng! The soup tastes like Japanese’s miso soup.
So hungry, we didn’t wait for the remaining 2 guests to arrive.

BBQ the meat & tube to suck the smoke.
When Chai & then Mich arrived, our stomachs were already full so we piled dishes after dishes for them.
Thought Mich wanted to diet but she kept asking the waiter to refill, gesturing the whole wide table, “Whatever lah, refill lah!” 3 times! Till the waiter told her haltingly, “Cannot refill already.” Hoho.
After we finished eating the food, we had complimentary watermelon (free for everyone who eat there) - ngam ngam 7 slices for all.

A candle for each Sam & TBone. Orange Zone’s Tiramisu cake

At 1st tasted like normal cake but once you tasted the mousse, mmm…

The super sweet & thick cinnamon, honey & sth else drink
It was RM50 for everyone to treat the 2 birthday people, including cake. Michelle balked, “Wah, it’s quite expensive here too!!”
Chai added, “But it’s for 2 people, so it’s very cheap already.” Yeah, we chimed in.
Then we headed for 2nd round - TBone’s home. “I got a lot of beer at home.” Once they heard “BEER”, their eyes lit up. “From Chinese New Year time!” His wife even served CNY biscuits to us, still in those tins!
