In GSC’s Fun Break Mar - Apr 2008, there’s Buy 1 Free 1 promotion.

When I went over to the GSC counter in Mid Valley showing the newspaper cutting of the cinema listing, the staff informed, “I think you need to print out the coupon..”

To enjoy this offer for movies marked asterisk (*), movie fans need only cut out any GSC cinema listings from the dailies or download GSC Fun Break coupon from www.gsc.com.my. Each patron will be limited to two (2) coupons per transaction and the list of asterisk movies will be listed in the daily cinema listings and GSC website.

“But your website didn’t mention this. It said either print out the coupon or bring the cutout of cinema listing.”

“Umm..” he went to the back and 3 more people appeared holding the decal, pointing to this section:

1 of the staff said, “You need to show the date in your cinema cutting.” She showed an example of another newspaper cutting with the date on top.

Mine didn’t have any date since the cinema listing wasn’t at the top and there was no date at the bottom of newspaper. Besides, not all newspapers print with date on every page - why waste ink?

I told them, “Do you have access to your website? Your website didn’t mention this.”

“We need the date to keep track.” The girl pointed to the duration on the decal again.

“You can check the movie listings in the cutout and compare with the date,” I pointed to the cuttings I brought. Surely “L”, “Nim’s”, etc are movies from April & March or May for that matter!

The 3 of them turned back. Then the 1st staff sat back on his seat and told us we could buy the tickets under this promotion. Were the other 2 guys standing beside her bodyguards? Haha. They sure remained silent throughout her conversation with me.

Things that GSC can improve:

• Knowledge from the staff - everyone should have the same understanding, including the website.
• Common sense - compare an online voucher with the newspaper cutting: NO DATE AT ALL!
