Phuket 4D3N Sep 2016

About the trip

This was quite a last minute trip, arranged about 1 month before departure via PYO Travel for Phuket & Phi Phi Island tour. The link (at the time of writing) shows 3 days only but we booked 4 days (the link showed 4 days when we booked the trip).

Itinerary from the tour company (my comments):

Day 1 free & easy

Pickup from friendly (yes and also lied about good quality and cheapest souvenirs in a gift shop in Phuket) representative pickup from airport.

Day 2 Phuket -> Phi Phi island

Savour the most important meal of the day at your hotel before you begin your tour Phi Phi Island. You will be picked frm the hotel to Rassada Port for your ferry to Monkey Beach at Phi Phi Don Island. Relax and unwind (pay entrance fee THB20/cleaning Phi Phi Island, government charge or you won’t be able to step foot into the island). After soaking up the sunshine, you will continue to Phi Phi Ley Island to marvel at the brilliant landscape of Maya Bay (just look from far!), where the film The Beach was shot. Enjoy snorkelling (there’s THB400 charges for snorkeling) in the warm crystal waters, or simply relax and soak up the tropical island atmosphere. After that, you will drift pass Lho Sa Mah Bay (Loh Samah in Google Maps) and Phi Leh Cove (just pass by – the cruise ship will stop awhile for you to take pics from afar) where you can recollect your thoughts as you relive the days of The Viking at the Viking Cave. Just in time to satisfy your mid day hunger, you will partake a buffet lunch at the most beautiful sea view restaurant at Phi Phi Don (um, couldn’t see the sea view from the restaurant but the hotel is certainly the tallest and biggest that I saw there, in the center facing front). When you are ready to depart (that’s not true – we go to our ship at 3.30pm – sth like that), you will be taken back to Phuket pier and you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 3 free & easy

Day 4 Return home from Phuket.

If we compared the tour vs plane tickets, hotels and transportation at the time of research & booking, the tour price was cheaper. However, if we managed to get really cheap plane tickets from AirAsia and book hotels 2-1 weeks before arrival date, the tour price is really expensive! I found some high end hotels price dipped 70% and some dropped from RM1000 to below RM100! Well, depends on luck too..

Here are some of my favourite pics from the trip. There will be several posts based on day or location since I took REALLY A LOT of pics from phone and camera!

Day 1

Kuala Lumpur to Phuket
Karon Viewpoint
Nai Harn Beach
Windmill Viewpoint & Promthep Alternative Energy Station
Promthep Cape (Laem Promthep)

Day 2

Phi Phi Don
Patong – Best Sticky Rice with Mango & Jungceylon

Day 3

On Day 3, we found a guy and lady standing near our hotel selling taxi packages. Since getting GrabTaxi to different destinations are similar priced to a package (must bargain), we decided to book a taxi for whole day.

Took this pic from our transportation “agent”. We didn’t buy this package – we told them which beaches we wanted to go and asked for price, then bargained. Calculated against GrabTaxi and decided. It would take less than RM100 per person. Think we got THB1800 for two person combined. Someone quoted us THB3000 on the 1st day (we didn’t take this).

Thank goodness our driver speaks English and is helpful in recommendations! Today is beach hopping day :D

Patong Beach
Karon Beach
Kata Beach
Windmill Viewpoint & Promthep Alternative Energy Station again (Nai Harn Viewpoint)

Big Buddha
Kamala Beach
Surin Beach
Night market in Patong
Jungceylon – souvenir + craft booths and Big C Supermarket (no pic)

We didn’t have lunch today. Thought of having lunch near Big Buddha area but it started raining and we rushed to the next beach.
