Korea Spring – East Jeju Island Day 3 – Seopjikoji & Seongsan Illchubong

The night before, we couldn’t finish our chicken dinner. So for breakfast today, I shredded the chicken and friend cooked instant noodles. Tasty and this time we added kimchi, bought from CU or GS25 (very common convenience store in Korea). Today we opened the cold brew and 2 of us found it too bitter without cream and sugar. Sometimes people are not addicted to coffee but sugar :p I too prefer with milk & cream but want to cut down milk – don’t want to hurt cows and lots of hormones in milk, cream has preservatives, chemical and is processed food. I know, coffee is acidic too.. We should eat more alkaline food.

The white chocolate was from KL, just in case I would get hungry. Handy for the coffee. I’m ok to drink bitter coffee if I had lots of time but we were on trip, must move fast to check out of Airbnb, go to Seongsan and check in at Jeju airport counter.

Here’s Seopjikoji. A place that sounds like Japanese language but I read “koji” means sudden bump on land (Source: VisitKorea)

Car parking is 1000 Won. We expected lots of Chinese tourist… but surprisingly, we saw majority of Korean tourists EVERYWHERE and so few Chinese. Could be due to the recent disagreement between China-Korea-US.

It has a cute candy house. Don’t think we can go in…

Our Airbnb host told us it would take about 30min-45min to go to the top. We spent almost 2hrs, taking photos from left to right, top to bottom. Reminds me of a cross (Christianity).

Pretty, tiny, bright yellow Cranola flowers (I think):

Besides yellow flowers, there’re tiny light purple flowers:

At the tower finally!

Then we headed to Seongsan Illchubong (Peak) – only we didn’t manage to go to the Peak. The tiny purple flowers are here too.

Entrance is 2000 Won for adult but on the day we went, it was FREE! :D

The view from half way up on the island … it’s nothing much. The view on the area itself (Seongsan Illchubong and not the surrounding buildings) is more impressive:

Getting hot ☀ #seongsanillchubong

It didn’t look hot in the pic but the sun was coming up in the afternoon and it was getting VERY hot, like in Kuala Lumpur! Sweating..

We had decided to meet for lunch at McD and I thought my friends were further down. I calculated and guessed it would take at least 15min for me to reach to the top, maybe more.. *pant* so I better go down or I’d be late. We have to return car, go to Love Lane (1 of us die die must go, can’t see in Malaysia) and take flight to Seoul.

The view looks better than the pic:

Did I mention there are 2 trails like a reversed Y? Go up half way, near the toilet, it will split to go down or continue go up. Can’t go down the way you come up at this point.

At the “ground”, there are lots of grandparents stones, souvenirs and restaurants.

There is no Filet O’ Fish in McD here (Seongsan Illchubong’s branch). There are shrimp and other meat burger though, no vegetarian burger :( I thought it was weird that island doesn’t have fish burger. If you want the sauce, you’ll have to pay. Yup.
